I am completely smitten with Edmond Dulac’s romantic illistrations, which are simply filled with whimsy and elegance. His illistrations tell simple stories of innocence and the joy of imaginatation, evoking the romance and mystery of fairytales, with his soft use of watercolours to create a haze of dreams and delight. I love how the emotions in the paintings are held through the colour palettes, dream-like, but fleeting – his illistrations seem to somehow capture the fancies of little girls and boys, sleeping peacefully. Oh, how I adore fairytales!
