Holiday Wishes
Photos by me
I Hope every one had a simply marvelous Christmas!
I'm leaving tommorrow - very early in the morning.
I'm off to New Zealand, to visit the land of storybooks.
Hopefully it will all come to life for me like i've always imagined it would.
I hope everyone has a lovely holiday - winter or summer or where-ever you are.

"Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle"
- Plato.
I'll be back when my heart is in it. Which i think, my dears, shall be very soon. Summer has caught me in the trap of an idle and wandering mind, and although this is lovely, it cannot go on for too long. The idleness, I think, will leave very soon, I've had my time to be idle. But i shall continue to wander.

Dont Fence me in....
Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above,
Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above,
Don't fence me in.
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love,
Don't fence me in.
Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze,
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees,
Send me off forever but I ask you please,
Don't fence me in.
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love,
Don't fence me in.
Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze,
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees,
Send me off forever but I ask you please,
Don't fence me in.
Underneath the western skies.
On my Cayuse, let me wander over yonder
Till I see the mountains rise.
Photo found via We Heart it
And gaze at the moon till I lose my senses
And I can't look at hovels and I can't stand fences
Don't fence me in.
And I can't look at hovels and I can't stand fences
Don't fence me in.
Photo of me, taken by a friend
The words are from Cole Porter's song 'Don't Fence Me In'.
The holidays are almost, almost here...and all I long to do is 'Gaze at the moon till I lose my senses'

Little Treasures
My Grandmother's clover brooch
My Great-Grandmother's pearls. These are so special to me, They are from the 1920's and were bought on a trip to Japan.
My Great-Grandmother's signature album. I found this in an old trunk one rainy day, my mother had forgotten about it. It is such a little treasure, it has many pages of sweet messages and quotes, and even some drawings. There's a little message from my great-grandmother's husband too, from before they were married! The page above reads "To dear Narnee, with best wishes from Annie Cook" and below this "Small gifts have value when the giver's love goes with the gift as my love goes to thee."The inscriptions dates range from about 1906-1912. Every message is full of personality and love, some are humorous, and some are poetic, but they are all so magical.

I don't have many family heirlooms but what I do have is so special. Perhaps I'm overly sentimental, but there is just something so mysterious and beautiful about reading the words of a family member you never met, from many years ago. It makes you wonder about who they were, whether they had your eyes, whether they lived in mostly happiness or sorrow. I hope to leave something as special as this to my great-grandchildren, so they can wonder about me too.

6) All my favorite books are children's books.
7) I have been dancing since I was around 4 and I adore it. I fell over in my very first performance, (dancing in pink to aqua's Barbie Girl), but it didn't stop me!
Wishing everyone a wonderful Wednesday!

It feels like hours but also like seconds...
Another week is done. Another week with it's promise, dread, anxiety and wonder. Another set of seven days. Seven days where sometimes, everything changes, and sometimes, everything stays the same. Seven days which often pass by so quickly that you begin to think you've been sleeping through the days, wandering through the hours, carelessly without a thought to the minutes going by, and you've suddenly awoken and realised how much time has gone by. Not all days are special, but we must try our hardest to make each day worth remembering, to notice the world around us. A fleeting smile, a laugh with the glory of a church bell, the footsteps in the mud. Perhaps life's defining moments do not always come to one's side with grandeur and glory, like a knight riding to battle, but rather as an old friend, quietly and softly creeping to your side to stay with you forever. Moments will come, with their charm and their mystery, their pain and their joy.
But we must welcome each moment and never, never let them pass us by.
But we must welcome each moment and never, never let them pass us by.

P.S: I'm sorry about the lack of posting, I'm afraid I'm quite weighed down with school and exams at the moment. But I'll be back!
